Easter is a great holiday filled with family time, Easter egg hunts, yummy treats and more. If you’re like our orthodontic team, you want to enjoy a problem-free Easter. Well, if you’re not careful, you could suffer problems with your braces this Easter. This is why it’s important to keep your braces in mind while you’re observing the holiday. Our orthodontists, Dr. Ed Shehee and Dr. Chad Callahan, are happy to help you do so. To have a good Easter with braces, it’s best to do the following things:
-Avoid chewy and sticky candies: This is recommended because chewy and sticky candies can break your appliance and promote dental issues, like cavities. So, please avoid these foods altogether and stick to more braces-friendly foods.
-Wear a mouthguard: If you’re going to participate in a potentially intense or dangerous Easter egg hunt (we all know they can get a little dicey, especially if there is money involved), then you should wear a mouthguard to prevent breaking your braces and your teeth.
-Clean your smile and appliance: Cleaning your teeth, gums and braces can help you keep your smile and appliance in tip-top shape. It can also help you prevent dental issues by removing the bacteria and sugar from your mouth. So, make sure to brush after each meal and snack and floss and rinse at least once.
