Dr. Chad Callahan may recommend one or more orthodontic appliances as part of your treatment. During your initial consultation and your follow-up appointments throughout your treatment, we will carefully examine your mouth to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. If our orthodontists feel that you need an appliance to achieve the desired results for your bite and smile, we may recommend one of the following treatments:
- Bite Plate
- Herbst Appliance
- Mouth Guards
- Occlusal Guidance Appliance
- Rapid Palatal Expander
- Reverse Pull Headgear
Orthodontic appliances are usually recommended to correct a problem with your bite, your jaw, or the alignment of your teeth. They may also be recommended to prevent further damage from occurring before a problem can be resolved. Orthodontic appliances may be fixed (permanently anchored in place) or removeable, depending on your individual situation.
During your appointment, our doctors will carefully check your entire mouth, including the function of your bite and jaw, to determine the extent of the problem and help decide which appliance will be most beneficial for your needs.
If you ever experience a problem or an emergency with your appliance, please contact our office as soon as possible. A broken or poorly fitted appliance can halt the progression of your treatment, and we want to resolve these issues as quickly as possible to ensure that you are comfortable and that your treatment progresses as planned.
